Street Photography
The film everybody street gives use the view of several different street photographers and opens our eyes to a world beyond just a camera.

For my first assignment we had to take pictures in school in a street photography fashion. Some people used DSLR's and some people used ipods.
My second assignment was to take pictures out on the street as home work. I took all these pictures with my phone because it's more discrete and easy to handle. Most of them I took in a vertical form but then rotated before I put them on the site.
I was able to analyse a photograph by Garry Winogrand and this is what I wrote.
My essay on "Everybody street"
I have just watched the film "Everybody Street." I have learnt that street photographers behave in a very observant manner, with quick reflexes and a camera at their side at all times. It seems that their cameras of choice are ones that are quick, silent, portable and comfortable. Most of them used a Leica, which are all four.
There are may different kinds of subjects that street photographers are interested in. Some being culture, emotions, graffiti, the act of surprise and poverty. Boogie is a photographer who takes pictures of gangs, drugs and violence in Brooklyn. Street photographers enjoy photographing on the street for many reasons, one reason is that its a good way of learning to read your culture. It's also more chaotic than taking normal photos because in every day life at least one exciting thing can happen to a person, now imagine forty to fifty people all at once. Photography is the only thing in the world that can stop time and capture it to remember the past. An example of this is a photographer who took pictures of the graffiti covered trains in New York which aren't there any more.
There are also risks to being involved in street photography because people don't like being in pictures without their permission. So things can end up in depression, injury and or death. One of the photographers called Boogie took the risk of taking pictures of gangs in New York which is dangerous, but they accepted him and the pictures turned out well. Another one of the photographers takes really up close pictures of people which can look good but can end badly.

Here are some street pictures from around the school.
My favourite photograph |
This is probably one of my favorite street photographs because of whats in it. I like the way that the first thing that catches your eye is the man with the dog in the middle of the photograph and how you don't normally see this everyday. I also like how it's in the middle of the street and the people are just minding their own business. There is also a little bit of symmetry in this photograph with the stop signs and the buildings in the background.

My favourite street photography quote is by Alfred Eisenstaedt. " It is more important to click with people than to click the shutter"
Photo Challenge 1 : Ways of seeing

The challenge consists of :

Photo Challenge 2 : Bruce Gilden
We were put in groups and took pictures inspired by Bruce Gilden
I then turned them into Black and White and changed the contrast.
Evaluation
30 pictures I took in greenwich
This is my favourite picture because of how calm this person looks and the city in the background. I also like how the weather looks in black and white. The mist among the big buildings in black and white also looks very good. For some reason I like how the leaves hang down above the the man and that they are located on the top of the picture.

Photo Challenge 3 : Diagonals
In this challenge we analyse diagonals in pictures.

Here are some examples of diagonals around the school.
I have marked were there are diagonals on these four pictures.

My street
I never really saw my street as very interesting mainly because I see it everyday and it feels like nothing ever changes. But when you look deeper and in more detail you can see character.
